AUSTRALIAN RAIL TRACK CORPORATION (ARTC)

DIPLOMA & Certificate IV LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT PROGRAMs

We designed and facilitated a nationally accredited pilot leadership program for leaders in the organisation. Incorporating one-to-one coaching and assessments, participants are supported for the long term with resource booklets and toolkits enabling a consistent and effective approach to leadership.

The success of the pilot program was such that we facilitate several Certificate IV Leadership and Management and Diploma Leadership and Management programs annually, customised to ARTC’s unique operating environment. With a waitlist to join the programs, we’re excited to keep seeing the reverberating positive impact of participants’ program tasks on the organisation for the long term, as we continue to support ARTC’s leaders.

OUTCOMES

  • Substantial financial savings – one participant’s process redesign alone reduced maintenance downtime at a value of $8M
  • Substantial productivity increases and contractor use decreases
  • Elimination of high-risk hazards across several processes
  • Increased safety focus – up to 93% for some areas
  • Improved safety culture within teams, with a restart on standards and expectations
  • Lead indicator reports demonstrate performance above KPIs

Port of Newcastle

assessment, safety improvement, and leadership programming

We have facilitated tiered programs for PON’s executive team, managers, and staff, giving the organisation a consistent toolkit that is tailored for each level of work. We also conducted targeted programs for the Port’s Asset Management and Dredge teams. The participants have made lots of strong cross-organisational improvements, such as a new pricing tool to support better commercial decision-making and a fresh Asset Mangement Framework and strategy. This programming has fostered new connections, insights, and relationships across the organisation by assessing the current state together and enacting change through a consistent and coherent toolkit to improve culture, leadership, and performance

Subsequently, the Port engaged LKS Quaero to review its current safety culture. We refreshed the Port’s safety procedures and documentation to embed a stronger safety culture, supported by a new overarching safety concept.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS HAVE TO SAY

  • “The tools that have been provided here have been more valuable than what we’ve had in the past”
  • “Once you put into practical work, the lightbulb goes off”
  • “The thing that stood out for me through this process is the tangible models and relating these back”
